Website conversation notes
Prepare your
website brief.
Write a few notes about your business, the customers you want to reach and the questions they ask. Bring them to Darren to start planning your custom website.
1. Describe the person arriving
Perhaps a facilities manager needs a maintenance company. Perhaps a local business wants a new supplier. Choose a buyer who represents the work you want to attract.
- What has prompted them to look now?
- Which of your services would suit them?
- What area, project type or requirement affects the fit?
- Who else helps them make the decision?
We use research to check and develop this picture. You only need to bring what you already know.
2. List what they would need to know
Imagine that buyer looking through your pages before getting in touch. Write down the questions your team would normally answer on the phone.
- Which details explain the service properly?
- What genuine work, photographs or evidence can you share?
- What would make this enquiry unsuitable?
- Which information should the visitor send you?
The aim is a website that helps the right person understand the offer and make a useful enquiry.
3. Gather the available pieces
- The current site and details of who controls its domain.
- Your logo, approved images and service descriptions.
- Any factual examples you have permission to publish.
- A note about who will approve content and keep it current.
If you like another website, explain the particular quality you like about it. Our website studies are discussion material too; your site is developed around your own buyers.
Include budget constraints and important dates. Darren can then discuss the required scope, available capacity and the decisions still outstanding.
A few notes are enough to begin
You do not have to write the finished pages or solve the design. Bring the buyer’s situation and your knowledge of the business.
